12. It’s a Beautiful Day for a Ball Game – Harry Simeone Chorale
A classic baseball song, “It’s a Beautiful Day for a Ballgame” was released in
1960 by the Harry Simeone Chorale. While holding no allegiance to any specific
ball club, “It’s a Beautiful Day for a Ballgame” has a special place in the
hearts of Cubs fans, as it was WGN’s intro for Cubs games in the days of Jack
Brickhouse. Though very well known for “It’s a Beautiful Day for a Ballgame,”
Harry Simeone is most famous for co-writing and recording the timeless Christmas
song, “The Little Drummer Boy.” Released in 1958, “The Little Drummer Boy” is
one of the most popular Christmas songs of all time and is a staple in nearly
every radio station’s lineup in the days leading up to December 25th.
